Review: The Cactus Blossoms – You’re Dreaming (Red House Records)

The Cactus BlossomsListening to the impeccable vocal harmonies delivered by the Cactus Blossoms on their sophomore effort You’re Dreaming, one can’t help but recall the Everly Brothers. Musically, the band also cuts a little deeper into history, evoking memories of early Willie Nelson, combining flawlessly minimal instrumentation with cleverly simplistic lyrics, the Cactus Blossoms deliver a helping of stunning, absolutely gorgeous waltzes (“Powder Blue,” “Queen Of Them All” and “Adios Maria”) while also showcasing a more playful side of the band on album opener “Stoplight Kisses,” “Clown Collector” and “No More Crying The Blues.”
