Review: Phil Collins – No Jacket Required (Deluxe Edition) (Warner Music Canada)

Phil CollinsPhil Collins had found success with his first two solo albums, but it was 1985’s No Jacket Required that solidified the Genesis member as a bonafide superstar in his own right. Propelled by the singles “Sussudio,” “One More Night,” “Take Me Home” and “Don’t Lose My Number,” in addition to strong album tracks like “I Don’t Wanna Know” and “Who Said I Would,” more than 12 million copies of this record were sold in the U.S. alone by the turn of the century. This two-disc reissue boasts a bonus disc packed with a host of live tracks, including a number of No Jacket Required songs in addition to Collins’ 1984 hit “Easy Lover.” Also featured are demo versions of “One More Night,” “Take Me Home” and album track “Only You and I Know.”
