Review of The Head & The Heart – Let’s Be Still (Sub Pop)

Head HeartIs The Head & The Heart the folk-rock answer to Arcade Fire? Although they may bear a stronger sonic resemblance to label mates Fleet Foxes on tracks like Josh McBride and 10,000 Weight In Gold, some of the group’s songs on their excellent new record Let’s Be Still have a sweeping, orchestral quality to them. For every track of sheer exuberance like album opener Homecoming Heroes and Summertime, there are muted moments such as Cruel and the Neil Young-inspired These Days Are Numbered that rank as equally impressive.
