Review of Needtobreathe – Rivers In The Wasteland (Warner Music Canada)

NTBSouth Carolina’s Needtobreathe reside comfortably in the realm of Contemporary Christian Rock. Musically, they share much in common with bands like the Kings of Leon and The Fray but take special care in the way their craft their songs. Although there are unquestionable themes of faith and inspiration running throughout the record’s 11 tracks, the group’s message is never an over-bearing one. Ballads like album opener “Wasteland” and “Difference Maker” offset upbeat, joyous tracks like “Where The Money Is” and “The Heart,” ultimately proving the group is more than adept at locking into a good, solid pop groove.
