Review of Nataly Dawn – How I Knew Her (Warner Music Canada)

Nataly Dawn

On her second solo outing, Pomplamoose’s Nataly Dawn embraces the musical diversity and quirkiness of Regina Spektor while enlisting a multitude of instruments to help realize her vision. It is the lack of defined musical boundaries that helps make How I Knew Her such an interesting listen. Pop lies at the heart of each of the album’s dozen songs. It is moments like the strings and slide guitar, which give way to a cacophony of sound on the title track that Dawn excels, making this record anything but a typical indie-pop record.
