The nine-track debut release from Moncton’s John Jerome & The Congregation stands out but not only because it is pressed on beautiful 12-inch vinyl, it’s about the music, man. While there is an undeniably obvious indie-pop vibe running throughout the album, the band delivers more than a few surprise moments such as the 60’s / doo-wop inspired The Current. The group’s refusal to colour inside the proverbial musical lines, leading the listener on a fun series of twists and turns, making for one of the most exciting albums to come from the area in some time.
