Review: Barenaked Ladies – Silverball (Warner Music Canada)

BNLHave the Barenaked Ladies got their mojo working once again? Listening to Silverball, the band’s 12th studio effort, one might be inclined to believe the band is indeed getting back into the swing of things. In some ways, the band might have been their own worst enemy on the two efforts prior to their latest offering as they worked to re-establish themselves following the 2009 departure of vocalist Steven Page. And while the group’s ability to craft memorably melodic pop songs was never really called into question, there is a palpable confidence running through these songs that was notably absent from 2010’s All In Good Time and 2013’s Grinning Streak. Album highlights include “Say What You Want,” “Piece of Cake,” “Narrow Streets,” and album closer “Tired Of Fighting With You.”
